Girlscript Summer Of Code

GirlScript Summer of Code is the 3 month long Open Source program during summers conducted by GirlScript Foundation, started in 2018, with an aim to help beginners get started with Open Source Development while encouraging diversity. Throughout the program, participants contribute to different projects under guidance of experienced mentors. Top participants get exciting goodies and opportunities.

GirlScript Summer of Code 2020 witnessed overwhelming participation and 2021 edition will carry the legacy forward while promising to be even more impactful and grand. It is conducted by GirlScript Foundation every year during the summers to help beginners get started with Open Source Development while encouraging diversity. It is a great opportunity for every student to explore the open source field and learn about how to contribute in open-source. During this 3 month long program, all participants will contribute to their assigned projects under the guidedance of experienced mentors to win some amazing goodies and lot more opportunities.

IS GIRLSCRIPT ONLY FOR GIRLS ?

Absolutely Not!!
This program is not only open to girls but also to participants of all genders, age groups, and countries.
The name of this program is because it is organised by Girlscript Foundation.

ELIGIBILTY:

The Only thing you need to participate in this program is the dedication and enthusiasim to learn and explore about open-source development. Since this is a beginner friendly program, every student with even zero knowledge of open source can participate. There will be many projects of varying difficulties and the experiencd mentors will be there to guide you in each and every step.

TIMELINE:

The schedule of this program usually remains as mentioned below: 1) 4th - 5th March :- All the projects will be assigned to different mentors. 2) 8th March :- This day is the start of contribution period for all participants. 3) 10th March :- The leaderboard will be open and points of every partipants will be displayed. 4) 10th - 12th March :- During this period the participants will start bonding with their teammates and mentors. 5) 1st April :- Allotment of projects to the participants 6) 31st May :- End of 3 month long journey of contribution. 7) 2nd week of June :- Declaration of results.

PRIZES AND REWARDS:

On the basis of the performance and contributions of the participants throughout the program, they will be rewarded with awesome goodies, certificates, internship opportunities, cash prizes, etc.

2. Top 25 Performers : Letter of Recomendation and Internship Opportunities
3. Top 50 Performers : Tshirts and Swags
4. All Participants(With atleast one PR Merged) : Digital Certificates. Check the Leaderboard.

HOW TO APPLY ? :

The Registration period begins in the last week of February. All the participants need to fill a Google form with all their details like name, college, GitHub and LinkedIn profile links, etc. Then, the participants will be notified through email from GirlScript Summer of Code regarding their selection and the invitation to the Slack workspace will be sent to them. After that, they need to join their workspace and follow other guidelines to further participate in their program.
